As the weather gets colder, it is time to start thinking about winter skincare. While many people may think that with less sun and heat, there are fewer chances to develop acne, such is not the case. Cold weather can in fact cause acne because of the potentially harsh conditions. The weather is windy, dry and cold, resulting in a greater number of breakouts the winter months.
How do you prepare your skin for winter? You can start by using a light (oil free if possible) moisturizer on exposed skin. A combination moisturizer and sunblock will prevent dried out skin by cold weather while protecting your skin from the sun.
Moisture is the key to protection against cold weather, and while it may not seem like it, the sun still comes out and the skin still needs protection. A moisturizer is equally important because people tend to take warmer showers in the colder months. Remember not to go overboard with the hot water, or else you will dry out your skin!
