Does Drinking Milk Cause Acne?
Recent studies have shown that consuming dairy products including: skimmed milk, cottage cheese,
cream cheese, and instant breakfast drinks may cause acne for some people. While being lactose intolerant certainly can
lead to milk causing acne, but even if you are not lactose intolerant you may experience acne breakouts from milk based products.
Why is this? Well, in order to have cows produce more milk, many dairy farmers will give cows hormones and these hormones can
be passed through their system and into any milk they produce. This milk is then used for creating other products, such as
cottage cheese, and the hormones stay in the food or drink even after it has been processed.
In order to avoid milk and other dairy products causing acne, you don't need to completely stop eating and drinking them, but there
are certain steps you can take to minimize the chances of acne breakouts. First, make sure you use a high quality acne cleanser and acne moisturizer, this will help your pores stay clear and prevent oil build-up. In addition, make sure you do not over wash your face because that can actually make your breakouts worse by drying your skin even more. You should also make sure not to over consume milk based products because that will only increase the chances of acne developing.
