Preventing & Treating Acne Scars
Before diving into the specifics of acne scarring, it is important to understand what scars are. Most simply stated, scars form
at the site of an injury to tissue. When tissue suffers an injury, the body rushes healing elements to the injury site to repair it.
The major elements involved in tissue repair are white blood cells and an array of inflammatory molecules. These elements have the task
of repairing tissue and fighting infection. However, when their job is done they may leave a somewhat messy repair site in the form of
fibrous scar tissue, or eroded tissue. In regards to acne, the injury to the body is an inflammatory response to bacteria, dead cells
clogging the sebaceous follicle and sebum. After treating the acne site, white blood cells and inflammatory molecules may remain at the
site of an active acne lesion for days or even weeks. There are two types of scars that can result from acne: depressed areas and raised thicken tissue.

A better, more efficient, far less risky, and less costly solution is to limit the number of acne outbreaks, which will limit the
likelihood of acne scarring. The most effective ways to prevent acne developing and creating scars is to treat acne early, and as
long as necessary, using only high quality acne products. Acne products containing ingredients such as aloe vera will help prevent
acne and reduce the chances of scarring because of aloe’s ability to help heal skin when it’s suffering from inflammation.
