While the Lexli Acne Kit has been formulated to control acne symptoms and reduce breakouts, many users have reported an improvement in the appearance of acne scars. 14. Can I use the Lexli Acne Kit if I am pregnant or nursing?

The ingredients in the Lexli Acne Kit are overwhelmingly safe for use during pregnancy or nursing. Please note, however, that select products in the Lexli Acne Kit contain salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. Physicians occasionally advise women to avoid these ingredients while pregnant or nursing. Therefore, we suggest you consult your physician before using the Lexli Acne Kit if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

MothertoBaby, a service of the non-profit Organization of Teratology Information Specialists (OTIS), provides this information regarding use of topical acne treatment products during pregnancy:

Benzoyl Peroxide: “There are no studies looking at women who use topical benzoyl peroxide during pregnancy. However, because only about 5% of the amount applied on the skin is absorbed into the body, it is not likely to increase risk for birth defects.”

Salicylic Acid: “When applied on the skin, the amount of salicylic acid that enters the body would be much less than when a woman takes low dose aspirin. For this reason, it is unlikely that topical salicylic acid would pose any risk to a developing baby.”
