AloeGlyC is the facial exfoliator uniquely formulated to transform your skin. A chemical exfoliant with a pH similar to that of a professional chemical peel, AloeGlyC encourages cellular turnover, resulting in dramatic skin improvement, including:

  • Skin tone appears more even
  • Hyperpigmentation lightens
  • Texture improves
  • Fine lines and wrinkles become less apparent
  • Pores are cleared and their size is minimized
  • Sebum (skin oil) is regulated

Despite its potency, AloeGlyC is safe for use on all skin types and, over time, even helps to improve the characteristics associated with sensitive skin. Like all Lexli products, it features a concentrated base of organic, pharmaceutical-grade aloe vera to calm and nurture the skin. This reduces the potential of burning, redness and other signs of inflammation.

Those prone to acne find that regular use of AloeGlyC helps to keep pores clear, thereby reducing breakouts, while also reducing post-acne hyperpigmentation.

How It Works

Skin cells are sloughed off every 28 days, on average, when we’re young. However, as we age and/or when skin becomes damaged, this process of cellular turnover becomes inefficient, extending to an average of 50 days in our 40s, and becomes longer as we age.

AloeGlyC works to optimize skin turnover. It features glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid (water-soluble) that is considered by dermatologists to be the gold standard anti-aging exfoliator, and salicylic acid, a beta-hydroxy acid (oil-soluble) that is effective in reducing clogged pores and acne while improving skin texture. These acids loosen the bonds between dead skin cells, allowing them to be easily sloughed off and revealing the healthier cells beneath. Simultaneously, by thinning the outermost keratin layer of dead skin cells, the dermis layer of the skin begins to thicken and function better. Given that the dermis is where skin proteins like collagen and elastin are produced, optimizing its function ensures improved skin health.

Chemical exfoliation can cause inflammation. However, Lexli’s unique base of pharmaceutical-grade aloe vera minimizes this inflammation, making AloeGlyC appropriate for all skin types.

Why is Exfoliation an Essential Skin Care Step?

Many skin concerns, ranging from dull complexion to prominent fine lines and age spots, can be improved with the addition of exfoliation as a regular step in an individual's at-home skin care routine. Not only does proper facial exfoliation minimize the buildup of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin, it also encourages cellular turnover, which is the skin's natural way of rejuvenating itself. When these skin processes are optimized, skin not only looks better, it also functions better.

Exfoliation can be done via physical exfoliators (e.g. scrubs) or chemical (e.g. acids). While both types of face exfoliators can play a role in a skin care routine, our opinion at Lexli is that chemical exfoliation is the better option for most individuals. This is because chemical exfoliators, like aloe-based AloeGlyC, tend to be gentler on the skin and offer more even exfoliation.

You can learn more about the different types of exfoliation and the overall benefits of exfoliation by reading our post "How to Exfoliate."

AloeGlyC® is a chemical face exfoliator like no other. Formulated with a base of organic, pharmaceutical-grade aloe vera and glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid, this patented exfoliator features a pH similar to that of a professional chemical peel but without the risk of burn or redness - no matter the skin type. With just a single use, the exfoliating acids in AloeGlyC leave skin feeling softer and noticeably brighter. With consistent daily use, AloeGlyC's anti-aging benefits become apparent. By sloughing away dead skin cells on the skin's outermost layer and encouraging cellular turnover, this impressive exfoliator improves the appearance of sun-damaged and aging skin by smoothing skin texture, reducing dark spots and hyperpigmentation, and diminishing the appearance of fine lines.

Despite its low pH, AloeGlyC is a gentle formula that can be safely used on sensitive skin and even helps to improve the characteristics associated with sensitivity, including redness and discomfort. Those with acne prone skin also benefit from AloeGlyC's ability to slough off dead skin cell buildup and clear clogged pores, which helps to minimize the potential for breakouts, while minimizing pore appearance and reducing post-acne pigmentation.

Along with glycolic acid, AloeGlyC contains an effective blend of antioxidants, including vitamin C (l-ascorbic acid beads), as well as vitamins A, D and E and green tea, which work together to neutralize free radical damage, contributing to healthier and younger-looking skin.

After 60 days of AloeGlyC use, participants in a consumer trial reported:

  • Improved skin tone, including a reduction in hyperpigmentation and redness (86%)
  • Improved skin texture, including smoother/softer skin (79%)

At the conclusion of the trial, 30% of participants saw a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, with continuous improvement beyond the 60-day mark, as AloeGlyC use continued. Additionally, participants prone to dry skin reported an improvement in hydration, while those with acne-prone skin reported a significant reduction in the frequency of breakouts.

AloeGlyC glycolic acid exfoliator is uniquely formatted to be used daily by most skin types after giving skin time to adjust to chemical exfoliation. Those with sensitive skin, however, can use AloeGlyC just a few times a week and will still see impressive benefits.

Product Pairings

AloeGlyC is an essential skin care product that fits into all skin care routines, regardless of skin type or tone, as the second skin care step after skin cleansing.

At a minimum, we advise pairing AloeGlyC with Tone & Balance hydrating toner, which calms inflammation and redness and offers the skin added moisture. This product is particularly beneficial as the skin adjusts to use of AloeGlyC. Additionally, AloeGlyC should be paired with a morning and evening moisturizer. For daytime application, a moisturizer that contains sunscreen is essential, as exfoliation makes the skin increasingly sensitive to UV exposure. We recommend Day Moisturizer with SPF 30 for daytime application. In the evening, Night Moisturizer is a rich, hydrating accompaniment to AloeGlyC.

Directions

Use AloeGlyC aloe vera exfoliator in your skin care routine after cleansing with your preferred Lexli cleansing product.

During the first week of use, use AloeGlyC chemical exfoliator only at night so skin can adjust to the product. For those with particularly sensitive skin, AloeGlyC can be diluted with a small amount of the Lexli moisturizer of your choice. Gradually reduce the amount of moisturizer that is blended with AloeGlyC until your skin tolerates a full-strength application. For those whose skin has adjusted to AloeGlyC, the product can be used up to twice daily – as part of the morning and evening skin care routines.

To apply AloeGlyC, place a nickel-size amount of product in the palm of your hand. Using gentle upward and outward strokes, smooth the exfoliator onto face and neck. Use caution to keep product out of eyes. DO NOT WASH OFF. Allow AloeGlyC to sit on skin for 10 to 15 minutes before applying the Lexli moisturizer of your choice.

CAUTION: Use of glycolic acid chemical exfoliators like AloeGlyC will cause sun sensitivity. It is, therefore, imperative that sunscreen or a moisturizer with sunscreen be applied to skin following use of AloeGlyC if you intend to go outdoors.
